About Cyprus
Floating on the waters of the European Mediterranean, but pointing longingly towards the shores of the Middle East, Cyprus is a unique mixture. It is a kaleidoscopic blend: its cultural influences are dominated by Western Europe, but its geographic proximity to Asia and Africa gives it more than just a hint of the East. Long coveted by mainland Greece and Turkey, this small island has its own definite and beguiling character.
Whether you know it as the ‘island of sin’ (or ‘fun’) thanks to wild stories from Agia Napa; or, as the tourist brochures love to point out, ‘the island of Aphrodite’, Cyprus is the perfect holiday location. Whether you are looking to lie by the beach, dine at the local tavernas and restaurants, laze at the pool, play sports or tour the many historical sites, Cyprus has something for everyone.
From the tourist centres of places like Paphos to the small villages of the Akamas Peninsula; from the Troodos mountains to the heavenly golden beaches of the Karpas (Kırpaşa) Peninsula; or from the medieval castles, monasteries & wineries to the championship golf courses - Cyprus will take your breath away. With good walking shoes, a swimsuit and some sunscreen in your bag, you can have a trip you’ll remember for years.
About Paphos & Peyia
Linked by a road artery, Kato Pafos (Lower Pafos) and Ktima (Upper Pafos) form an interesting whole. Kato Pafos, the tourist centre, where our Royal Seacrest apartment for rent is situated, has neon lights, music, bars and clubs for the young and young at heart; yet it has the most relaxing of sea fronts awash with local eateries and also has the South’s most fascinating archaeological sites. We have tried to capture this eclectic mix of entertainment and beauty in our videos Paphos Nightlife and Sites Of Cyprus, that can be viewed from all pages on this site and from our videos page.
Ktima, the real centre of Pafos, has managed to retain its character; it’s a calmer place where ‘real Pafiots’ go about their daily business. It has lovely colonial buildings housing government institutions and many of the town’s museums. But the highlight is its excellent restaurants, cafes and market stalls.
The village of Peyia, where our 3 bed villa for rent is located, lies on the south western tip of the lovely island of Cyprus and is probably one of the most colourful and interesting villages on the island!
Today, Peyia retains its charms but has grown up to be a very vibrant and welcoming large village.
Many tourists choose to stay in Peyia to enjoy a taste of traditional Cypriot welcome mixed with the many, more modern western ways they've become accustomed to.
Set on a hillside, the views are magnificent, the people warm and friendly – and the beach only 2 kms away.
